School of Foreign Languages and Cultural Communication Holds Expert Validation Meeting on the Cultivation Program of Translation and Interpreting Degree Programs

  On November 2, the expert demonstration meeting for the cultivation program of Translation and Interpreting Master's Degree Program of the University was held in the School of Foreign Languages and Cultural Communication. The expert group consisted of Prof. Chai Mingyi, Director of Shanghai Master's Degree Education Steering Committee for Translation and Interpreting, Pan Yan, Director of Infrastructure Management Department of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, Prof. Hu Kaibao, Deputy Director of Shanghai Master's Degree Education Steering Committee for Translation and Interpreting, Prof. Tao Youlan, member of the National Translation and Interpreting Education Steering Committee, and Wang Yang, senior translator from Translation and Interpreting Center of Huawei Technologies Co. Mr. Wang Yang. Vice President Xu Yufang andDirector of Graduate School Cui Li attended the seminar, and members of MTI team of School of Foreign Languages and Cultural Communication attended themeeting. The argumentation meeting was presided over by Zheng Peiyun, Dean of Schoolof Foreign Languages and Cultural Communication.

 

Vice President Xu Yufang delivered a speech on behalf of the university, in which she welcomed and thanked the experts, briefly introduced the current development of our graduate education,and hoped that the Master's Degree Program in Translation and Interpreting would achieve greater development under the guidance of the expert group.

Under the chairmanship of Prof. Chai Mingjian, the expert group discussed the cultivation program indetail and meticulously. The expert group highly affirmed the cultivationprogram, and considered that the degree program construction closely focuses onthe national strategy of prioritizing the development of advanced manufacturing industry and modern service industry, fully relies on the advantageous disciplines of the university, and has its own unique advantages. The degree program deepens the integration of industry and education, highlighting the positioning of the university of applied technology that closely integrates industry, academia and research. The curriculum module setting adopts the interdisciplinary talent cultivation mode, realizing the cross-fertilization of Translation and Interpreting talent cultivation and modern information technology. The expert group also put forward suggestions for modification interms of cultivation objectives, curriculum setting and graduation thesis.

This seminar is the summary of theSchool of Foreign Languages and Interpreting and Cultural Communication's experience in declaring the Master's Degree in Translation and future planning.The team will further improve the curriculum system and strengthen the construction of the faculty according to the guidance of the expert group, soas to provide strong support for ensuring the quality of talent cultivation.
